OUR HISTORY AND RELATIONSHIPS

Touchstone Research Laboratories developed the CFOAM® products technology in the early 1990’s as part of an SBIR project for fire walls on US Navy Destroyers. CFOAM® carbon foam has evolved into a highly desirable alternative to conventional materials in markets such as thermal insulation, fire proofing, and composite tooling, due to its excellent mechanical and thermal properties.

In March 2017, Carbon Innovations also executed a commercial patent license agreement with UT_Battelle, LLC related to the production of pitch-based, graphite carbon foam products whereby Carbon Innovations will manufacture and sell these products under the PFOAM product line. This license agreement provides access to 10 patents and related IP for the production end use applications of PFOAM.

In October 2017, Carbon Innovations, LLC changed its name to CFOAM LLC, in order to better reflect its corporate identity and alignment with the promotion and development of the CFOAM® product technology and other carbon-based foam product technologies.

The company’s manufacturing operations and CFOAM LLC’s headquarters are located in Triadelphia, WV.
