CFOAM® carbon foam is a macro-porous carbon with foam like structure. This structure provides the advantages common to other foam like insulation materials. Unlike other insulating foam materials, CFOAM® carbon foam can be used at very high temperatures.
Because of its unique structural and thermal properties, CFOAM® carbon foam makes an ideal material for use in certain high temperature insulation applications up to at least 3000ºC.
Shown here is an example where CFOAM® carbon foam’s high thermal shock resistance and dimensional stability over temperature makes it a desirable material for use in high temperature kilns. (Photo courtesy of Watring Technologies)
